annisquam gold house

This modest house was at one time a lobster shack for storage of equipment, and is situated on

the waterfront in Gloucester. Although charming, the original house was cramped, with a kitchen

wing that was sinking into the ground due to lack of a foundation.

The project consisted of creating a new kitchen, shower room, bathroom, a new bedroom as

well as a gut-rehab of the remaining house. The extremely challenging site allowed very little

expansion area as well as conservation commission coastal mitigation standards that needed to

be satisfied. A full presentation to the local ZBA was also performed. The final house exhibits

the quality of a structure that has been carefully added to over time, without losing it’s initial

‘lobster-ness’.
