brooklyn center for the urban environment

The Tennis House in Prospect Park in Brooklyn, NY was designed by Helmle & Huberty

Architects in 1910, in response to the huge popularity of lawn tennis. The building later on

languished as a storage facility for many years. In 1990, BCUE hired Mike Hardiman to design

classrooms, exhibit spaces and admin space to support a new environmental center targeting

the youth of Brooklyn, whose access to education about wildlife and nature is otherwise rather

limited.
